2018 Ladies Closing Event

The Birchbank Ladies Golf Club held their closing event of the 2018 golf
season on Sunday, September 30th.  Because of inclement weather the fun golf
competition was cancelled, although some of the ladies braved the weather
and played 18 holes anyway. Jeri Santarossa, Club Captain, welcomed the
ladies back in the afternoon for dinner and presentation of year-end prizes.
Edie Harasin was introduced and recognized for her many years as a member of
the ladies club. Trophies and prizes were awarded as follows:  Crystal Cup
Match Play winner – Jeri Santarossa, runner-up – Dana Haas; B side winner –
Carol Babcock, B side runner-up – Joan Allegretto.  The overall net winner
of the Quick Print Monthly trophy was Sharon Orlando with a 66.4 (net)
five-month average.  Monthly winners were:  May – Sharon Orlando (64R), June
– Jeri Santarossa (62), July – Flori Valentine (66R), August – Dana Haas
(64), September – Lynn Pachkowsky (62).  The Ringer Board overall winner was

strokes).  Vivian Oh was presented with the trophy for the Most Improved
Handicap Factor (1.296 improvement factor).  The ladies enjoyed a delicious
turkey dinner following the prize presentations.  Although that was the
final scheduled event of the 2018 golf season, many of the ladies will be
seen swinging their clubs well into the month of October.  Pictured in the

Cherenko Wins Retirees Title

It was a cool start to the day for the 2018 Retirees Club Championship with a bone chilling breeze greeting the players — but the rain stayed away until the last hole was completed! The course was in terrific condition thanks to the work of our hard working grounds crew. Thanks also go to the Pro Shop and Bistro staffs for their work in making the event a success.

Reg Cherenko captured the Retirees Club Overall Low Gross Championship shooting 77 to edge Dave Muir & Paul Troseth by two strokes. Don Szilagyi captured the Overall Low Net title shooting a net 68 (using tie breaker) edging Tom Milne who also shot a net 68.
