Thirty-four members of the Birchbank Ladies Golf Club teed off on Saturday
June 9th for the fourth annual Ollie’s Tournament. This event is sponsored
by the family of the late Ollie Schultz who was an avid golfer and long-time
member of the Rossland Trail Country Club. The two-person best ball format
saw the team of Judy Healey and Gerianne Hanik claim the Ollie Schultz
plaque with a net 61, one stroke better than second place team of Eileen
Holm and Judy Healey, who was the dark horse on this team.  Other winning
teams were Carol Babcock and Doreen Campbell, third with 63; Kathy King and
Sharon Noakes, fourth with 64 and Roberta DeLuca and Ilo Shubert, fifth with
65.   Pictured left to right are Sharon Noakes, Ollie’s daughter; the
winning team of Gerianne Hanik and Judy Healey and Jane Phillips, Ollie’s
granddaughter.

52 members of the Birchbank Retirees Club played in the this month’s Golf & Lunch event – the Red-White-Blue Scramble. Perfect course conditions and weather conditions greeted the golfers for their early morning shotgun start.

2nd place – Merv Aiken, Al Gallamore, John Lattanzio, Ron Wilson (score – 67)

Reconfigured Layout Begins Play Monday

Get the ‘wayback machine’ ready for the reconfigured layout at Birchbank Golf starting Monday, MAY 28! The current front and back nines will be swapped – hole #1 will be next to the Clubhouse and practice putting green (current #10 tees) — AND the order of the first 5 holes will be altered.

Hole #1 (current #10), hole #2 will be the downhill par 3 (current #13), hole #3 will be the short par 4 (current #14), hole #4 (current #11), hole #5 (current #12), hole #6 (current #15) and so on — in general, almost the original layout when the course was built.

Retirees Invitational Results

Birchbank Retirees Invitational Tournament – May 17, 2018
Eighty-six golfers from six area golf courses – Christina Lake, Champion Lakes, Castlegar, Granite Pointe, Colville, and Birchbank –  completed in the first event of the annual Inter-Club Series.  Fine weather greeted the players as they teed off however a few players did get caught in a heavy downpour at the very end of the round.
Lunch and awards followed the completion of the round.
