The Birchbank Ladies Club held their annual Sweepstakes Open Tournament on Tuesday, July 5th. Forty-seven golfers representing clubs from Cranbrook, Balfour, Nelson, Castlegar, Redstone, Champion Lakes, Christina Lake and Penticton, as well as Birchbank teed up in a shotgun start under pleasant skies. All golfers had a shot at winning a 2016 Ford Focus (sponsored by AM Ford) for a hole-in-one on #16; however, no one aced the hole. Leslie Weaver from Cranbrook proved to be the top golfer, carding a gross 76, while Carol Babcock of Birchbank won the overall low net with a net 65. Thanks to Dennis Bradley, Director of Golf, Birchbank, for being the major sponsor of this tournament and to AM Ford for sponsoring the hole-in-one on #16.

What a fantastic effort by all involved in the 3rd Annual Jumpstart Golf Tournament! The grand total donated to the local chapter of Jumpstart:
“Money raised within each Chapter stays within the community and goes directly to help kids participate in sport, dance or other organized physical activities. Jumpstart funding helps families that need a financial hand with registration, equipment and/or transportation costs.”
It’s the perfect day to play golf today. Sunset isn’t officially until 8:59 PM, so lots of time to get in a round before dusk.
